I have been a “hobby carpenter” since
I was 10 years old. My brother and I started making custom skateboards,
in 1962. This was when skateboards were 16 inches long, 4 inches
wide and had metal wheels. Some of you may not even remember that.
We took scraps of wood my father got from the local cabinet shops,
and laminated them together. This gave us a board made of walnut
and oak. We would make wider axles for the wheels, by adding washers
to longer bolts. Shortly after that plastic wheels became available;
they were the same kind that the indoor skates had. Since then,
I have pretty much built whatever I needed.
When I became an adult, I remodeled every house
I lived in. I got pretty good at it, so I started doing fix-and-flip
houses. Right after I started doing that, the housing market in
Denver died. Denver became the foreclosure capital of the country.
I fixed and they didn’t flip. I am now a landlord needless
to say. Oh well, can you say tax deduction?
I have been doing some kind of indoor gardening
since 1982. I have been truly involved with it for the last three
years. I have found out what works and what doesn’t. I came
to the conclusion that smaller inconspicuous cabinets work great
for indoor gardening. They don’t take up much space and you
don’t have to explain it to the in-laws, or anyone else.
